Still It Will Be Heavy features a series of paired 5” x 7” etchings, each coupling a broader scene with a magnified detail. These works are a testament to my fascination with neighborhoods, focusing on the minutiae that often go unnoticed. Each pair is accompanied by a saying, cryptic in nature, inviting the audience to interpret it in their own way. While these sayings have personal and specific meanings to me, I've broadened them here to resonate with a wider audience. This collection is a reflection on grief, a common thread in my work, inspired by personal experiences such as the loss of a parent at a young age. While not everyone can relate to this specific experience, the universal experience of grief is something we all share. The nostalgia for my childhood and the home I grew up in serve as catalysts for these pieces.
